Good morning Church and welcome.  We’re glad you’re joining us for worship via the internet.

Passing the Peace

Turn to those around you -- other people in your house, your pets, your neighbors outside, your friends online -- and share these words: May the peace of Christ be with you! And also with you!

Let us pray.

Lord, today we recall your faithfulness.
Thank you that you walk with us every day - that you are with us in each moment.
Thank you that your promises are true and your goodness never fails us.

In this moment we come to you and we lay our lives before you.
May we worship and adore you with every fiber of our being.
May everything within us cry "Holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come".
And so today we join with all those who worship and confess you as Lord, from generations past and present, and with all the angels that sing in heaven of your greatness and beauty.

Lord we adore you.
Lord we love you.
Lord you are so precious to us.

Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Psalm 130
Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD.

Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications!
If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand?
But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered.
I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;
my soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning,

more than those who watch for the morning.
O Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love,

and with him is great power to redeem.
It is he who will redeem Israel from all its iniquities.

Read Psalm 130

  1. What are some of the visuals used by the writer of this psalm in verses 1-2? What does the writer restate for emphasis?

1. Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord;
2. Lord, hear my voice.  Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.

  1. In just one sentence, notice how the writer of this psalm addresses the Lord twice in verse 3. Why do you think the writer did that?

How long would your "record" be?  (Verse 3)

How should verse 4 change the pattern of your life today?

3. If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?
4. But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.

  1. What details are repeated and/or emphasized in verses 5-6?

How do verses 5-6 represent the proper posture of a true follower of God?

5. I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.
6 I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.

  1. Looking at verses 7-8, when an individual has been forgiven of their sins, what community responsibility does that person then have.

What does the writer mean by the word "redeem"?

Take a moment to apply this psalm to your own life in prayer in whatever way you need

7. Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption.
8. He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins. NIV

Prayer and Benediction

Let us pray

Almighty God, you are the God who can do all things. You reign over all, power and might are in your hands. When you decree, it comes to pass. I praise you today and always, and I thank you for being God.

I pray to you today, for all nations of this word, that as we go through this period of pain and confusion that you will bring an appropriate resolution to our fight against coronavirus.  I pray that your word will have free range over all peoples and nations of this world so that it would bring sinners to your love turning them into the salvation of Christ Jesus. God, I pray Lord for our friends and loved ones that are yet to come to the knowledge of Christ Jesus and that the Grace of God will change them from darkness into light.

I pray for our leaders, medical personnel, and people in essential services that they will be strengthened by you to make good decisions on behalf of your people.

Father, I pray for fellow believers who are weak spiritually today - that they will be strengthened with might by the Holy Spirit.

Lord, I pray for my country that your truth will reign supreme and that your light will dispel every darkness.

Today, I pray for Grace to abound into good works that Christ may be glorified in us.

Thank you that you are a God that answers prayers. We commit these prayers to you in Jesus precious name.  AMEN

Benediction

Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory in great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.
