Message from Pastor Betty
Message from Pastor Betty

Dear Members and Friends of UMC Cucamonga,

Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ. I am writing to share with you the decision of an emergency Town Hall meeting we had after church on Sunday March 15th, 2020. We made this decision in consultation with other leaders of the Church, and confirmed by the Governor of the State of California and the World Health Organization.  Starting next week, Sunday worship service and other gatherings during the week are postponed until further notice.  The church office will be open Monday through Thursday form 9-12noon for the coming weeks.

I would like to assure you that our love for you, for our entire congregation, and the larger community we serve, is also the motivation for our decision. We anticipate that these conditions will continue at least until public schools are open again, or until we feel that it is safe to open our doors again as a public gathering place for people.

The COVID-19 pandemic is growing and we are now in a time that is unprecedented and where we as a congregation need to cooperate with the World Health Organization and other government directives calling for extreme measures to avoid social contact in order to contain further spreading of the Coronavirus. While it grieves us, we know that it is good to be taking steps of utmost precaution in order to care for and respect one another, especially to protect those most vulnerable to this contagion.

In the coming weeks, we will “do” church differently because we still “are” the church! I will put a weekly message on the website www.oldstonechurchumc.com.

I will put up suggestions of how we can worship from home.  Hopefully we can produce good, creative, and healthy ways to worship, care for one another, and continue to nurture genuine community and service as the Body of Christ. I will post worship resources in the website www.oldstonechurchumc.com.  I am praying for each of you and will send frequents texts and emails to stay connected. Please remember to contact our prayer chain for special requests at this time. In the coming days and weeks, please go to our website for updates and resources for spiritual renewal and growth.

Please continue to support the church financially by using one of the following methods:

  1. Drop off at the church office Monday through Thursday 9 – 12noon
  2. Mail checks to UMC Cucamonga, 7690 Archibald Ave, Rancho Cucamonga CA 91730
  3. I will in the coming days give you the bank information if you prefer to do electronic transfers.

Finally, thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Please take time to pray for one another, our congregation, the different community groups that use our facilities, our Preschool Pebbles, our city, and anyone affected by this pandemic. We are trying to show love, care and respect for one another and our neighbors. We trust God to work through even this to reveal anew God’s goodness and love for all. I will be in and out of the office during this time.  Please feel free to also call or text me. (951-505-0359)

May the Lord bless you and keep you; may He make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

In Christ,
Betty
